The VISTA user interface is fully compliant with the
X Window System and makes use of all features of the
X Toolkit (like the resource mechanism) to provide the user and
tool integrator with mechanisms for configuration and customization.
This compliance to de-facto standards also enables the VISTA user
interface to work with all custom window systems and window managers,
as long as they are based on the X Window System. To demonstrate
this fact, different window managers and different setups of
operating parameters have been used for the creation of the screen
dumps that will follow in subsequent figures.
