8.2.1.1 Test Evaluation Phase

The test evaluation of the model for a given set of parameters usually results in a moderate number of system jobs. Given that there is a large number of available workstations (> 20 or so) there will be less jobs than available computers. Thus, it is important for a minimal computation time to submit the jobs to those computers which promise the fastest computation. This does not necessarily mean that the fastest computers should be utilized but rather those which do not already process jobs (see also Section 6.2.4 on page [*]). Thus, a correct ranking of the present performance is important during the evaluation phase of the optimization, which is ensured by the mechanisms included in SIESTA's job-farming system.
