B.2.1.2 Overdrive

The maximum input signal x is given by the value range of y. When x is too large <y> cannot temporarily compensate x, and the error e becomes significantly correlated to x, which shows in harmonic distortions. This effect and potential non-linearities in the input signal path before the integrator are the only possible cause for harmonic distortions in a first-order loop.
