 +===== Biography =====
 +
 +Dr. Enno Giese received the Eugen Lommel stipend of the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg in 2015 to facilitate his research stay in the Quantum Photonics group in Ottawa. Previously, he studied physics at Ulm University where he did his Masters (Diplom) in the Institute of Quantum Physics working on quantum effects in free-electron lasers. His doctoral research in Prof. Schleich’s group was on diffraction mechanisms for matter-wave interferometry, done within the QUANTUS project of the German Aerospace Center (DLR) and in close collaboration with the experimental group of Prof. Rasel at the Institute of Quantum Optics in Hannover. During his research, he developed a new type of beam splitter with possible applications for matter-wave experiments under microgravity conditions. Currently, as a visiting scholar at the University of Ottawa, Dr. Giese is part of the quantum optics group and interested in the application of quantum properties of light for quantum information, metrology, and tests of the principles of physics.
