1989 - Ph.D. Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, with the thesis “Nonlinear Evolution of Vlasov Equilibria”.
1990-1993 - Postdoctoral Fellow at the Department of Chemistry, University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada.
1993-1995 - Postdoctoral Fellow at the Applied Physics Laboratory of the Jons Hopkins University, Laurel (MD), USA.
