Research Assistant (PhD or Post-doc) in Computational Science, 40h

Research Topic: Development of computational frameworks and models for process simulation of semiconductor-based devices

About us: The Institute for Microelectronics is a globally recognized research institute in the field of micro- and nano-electronics. We cover all aspects of analyzing and investigating microelectronic devices, both experimentally and theoretically. This includes studying the relevant materials down to the atomistic level (e.g. DFT, MD), simulating and modeling the fabrication of complex geometries (e.g. process TCAD), and studying the operation and reliability of advanced nano-sized devices (e.g. Monte Carlo simulations and/or device TCAD).

Description: The subject of the available position is the further development of a computational framework and models for the simulation of the processes applied during the fabrication of semiconductor devices. This includes developing simulation strategies which range from molecular dynamics to continuum approaches in order to model processes such as atomic layer deposition (ALD), etching, ion implantation, and diffusion in semiconductor materials. The candidate will be expected to develop models and solutions to explain complex problems in semiconductor device physics while collaborating closely with global leaders in the microelectronics industry and scientific software development. A Master’s/PhD Degree in Computational Science, Electrical Engineering, (Technical) Physics, Applied Mathematics, or equivalent studies is required.

For the available positions, considerable interest and existing in-depth knowledge in one or more of the following areas are essential to complement our team:

    • Advanced programming skills in C++ is a must (Python is a plus)
    • Experience in utilizing third-party (scientific) libraries
    • Background in computational material science is a plus
    • Familiarity with GNU/Linux
    • Team player, eager, and reliable
    • Proactive and self-reliant
    • Good knowledge of written and spoken English

Starting Date: The position will remain open until filled

Benefits: This position is subject to the collective agreement of the TU Wien for scientific workers and employees, employment group B1. The monthly salary is paid 14 times p.a. and the gross salary is approximately 42,820.40 EUR.

Application: Please submit your application containing a detailed CV, your collective academic certificates, your Master’s thesis (weblink or PDF), and a single-page motivation letter (discussing relevant previous experience related to the desired skills and experience) to jobs@remove-this.iue.tuwien.ac.remove-this.at.
