10.2.4 Effective Mass Model

Another possible source of the discrepancy is Frensley's simple effective mass model. This is known to produce unphysical results in certain cases [Wu94] and the discretization of the quantum effective mass model is cumbersome [MH94,TOM91]. But comparing simulation results while using constant mass in both models we see that the discrepancy persists.
