1 Standard Make Utilities

Computer programmers have used standard utilities to build their programs for a long time. Many of them are very well known and solve the given problem sufficiently for the user. But with the increasing size of software projects it is becoming more and more troublesome to manage the source code. Another problem is that these tools use system dependent filenames, so the portability between different operating systems is not given. This is mostly solved by defining macros for file extensions, but this is again highly system dependent for directories.
