Since October 2011 I have been a member of the Quantum Physics Institute and have been leading a group conducting research on Bose-Einstein condensates (BECs) and ultracold atoms in microgravity and their application to high-precision measurements based on atom interferometry. Our group provides theoretical support within the QUANTUS collaboration, which is funded by the German Space Agency (DLR) and involves a number of mainly experimental groups in Germany.</description>

Christoph Bruder studied physics at TU München and the University of Sussex. After receiving his diploma in München in 1985 (diploma thesis on superfluid 3He with D. Vollhardt and P. Johann Cervenka was born in Schwarzach, Austria, in 1968. He studied electrical engineering at the Technische Universität Wien, where he received the degree of Diplomingenieur in 1999. He then joined the Institute for Microelectronics at the Technische Universität Wien and received his PhD in 2004. His scientific interests include Wigner functions, three-dimensional mesh generation, as well as algorithms and data structures in computational geometry.</description>

My research in theoretical chemistry is focused upon two areas of chemical dynamics, including the quantum theory of chemical reactions and the theory of intramolecular energy transfer. In both of these areas, the main questions concern the flow of energy: where does it go, and how long does it take to get there. We are involved with both methods of development and with the application of new methods to problems of current experimental interest.</description>

Biography

I am a research scientist at the Singapore-MIT Alliance for Research and Technology (SMART) Centre in the BioSystems and Micromechanics (BioSyM) interdisciplinary research group. I received my Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University. My research interests are in computational approaches to optics, with particular focus on coherence and phase retrieval, numerical optimization, phase space and three-dimensional display.</description>
