4. Tuning of the Nonlinear Solver

In numerical programming there is always the risk that methods do not work because of overlooked implementation errors. By comparing with the implementation in MINIMOS-NT a reliable implementation was achieved in both simulators.

We choose a Newton method with linesearch for the solution of the Boltzmann-Poisson system. In industrial simulation robustness is of paramount importance. To achieve robustness the nonlinear solver has to be tuned carefully.
