E.4 Summary

Even if the simpler \ensuremath{V_{\mathit{T}}} definitions (like 2) can be used for given technologies within some restricted parameter range, the uncertainty is unacceptable for explorative design studies (involving large parameter variations) and for research activities, where \ensuremath{V_{\mathit{T}}} data are communicated between different organizations. The conclusion drawn from these data is that the only useful threshold voltage definitions for low-voltage technologies are the linear threshold voltage \ensuremath{V_{\mathit{T,lin}}} 5 and the saturation threshold voltage \ensuremath{V_{\mathit{T,sat}}} 6.
