2.2 The VISTA Project

The VISTA project (VISTA) [21] is a rigorous approach for attacking complex tasks in Technology Computer Aided Design applications. It provides the developer of TCAD tools plenty of functionality for developing a new simulator or tool. This functionality can be found in several libraries or is available as a special tool e.g.,  regridding, data conversion, user interface building, and support for several UNIX operating systems. For the management of this large software project, a CASE2.2 tool, (vmake [61]), supporting project management, programming language binding, (e.g.,  FORTRAN and C), and distributed compilation, is included.
