7.4 Graphical User Interface Modeling

The design and implementation of graphical user interfaces is a difficult and time consuming task. The difficulty arises from the desire to create an intuitive GUI, which is not a straight forward process. Several generations of designs are usually necessary until a GUI satisfies the requirements for a simple and powerful user interface. At the same time this iterative design process can be cumbersome if there is no modeling support. Since person-power is a valuable resource, efficient mechanisms have to be applied for this design process.
