3. Data Driven Refinement Methods

In the following section three anisotropic tetrahedral mesh refinement techniques are presented, namely the layer, Hessian, and the gradient refinement method. All these methods deal with a tensor based metric definition function that is derived from a numerically calculated attribute, which is stored on the initial mesh, used for refinement. Furthermore a brief introduction is given on different aspects regarding data and the topological storage of data on a mesh.
