5.6.1 Comparison of Local and Global Optimization Strategies

In this section the optimizers are rated in terms of the minimal achievable target value for a given number of simulation runs in an inverse modeling application. The compared optimizers are a local, gradient based optimizer, a genetic algorithm, and a very fast simulated re-annealing algorithm.

For the inverse modeling task the device model depicted in Fig. 5.2 was used.
