The standard physical model discussed in the preceding section is now compared
with experimental

data. Systematic disagreements between calculations
and measurements are observed and several physical phenomena which may be
responsible are discussed. An engineering approach to remove the disagreements
in modeling the gate-depletion effect is proposed. The present investigations
may be of general interest for modeling heavily doped space-charge
regions.
