3. Important Software Aspects of Three-Dimensional Device Simulator Design

Minimos-NT is a state-of-the-art device and circuit simulator. The complexity of the simulation tasks to be performed, the complex nature of the technical information, as well as the high number of simulation parameters and simulation modes require flexible software design, models, interfaces, and class hierarchies.

In this chapter several aspects of the software design of Minimos-NT are depicted. New modules, functionalities, class hierarchies and concepts improving the capabilities of the simulator are explained, which have been introduced to enable complex multi-dimensional simulations. Since these new models and functionalities replace existing basic structures in Minimos-NT a complete redesign of parts of the simulator was necessary.
