A big congratulations to our colleague Luiz F. Aguinsky, who has been awarded the prestigious FWF Erwin Schrödinger Fellowship to study new materials for optically stimulated memristors, a promising technology pathway for neuromorphic computing. Using state-of-the-art supercomputers and the experience he obtained as a doctoral student within the CDL for High Performance TCAD (supervisor Josef Weinbub), new simulation techniques will be developed. Materials will be investigated using machine-learning molecular dynamics in combination with non-equilibrium Green's functions, leading to the development of design guidelines for future devices which will be fabricated at ETH Zurich and characterized at TU Wien.
Luiz will be initially hosted by Mathieu Luisier at ETH Zurich and during his return phase at IuE by Tibor Grasser, in cooperation with Michael Waltl and Josef Weinbub.
