Two Austrian Science Fund (FWF) projects will advance Wigner quantum transport research

Project: Numerical Constraints for the Wigner and the Sigma Equation

In this project the electrical characteristics of nanoelectronic devices will be modeled using the multi-dimensional Wigner equation. The sparse discretization scheme to be developed and a parallel implementation will enable simulations with large grid sizes which were previously unattainable.

Project: General Nano-Electromagnetic Quantum Phase Space Model

The research team will focus on developing a general electromagnetic signed particle model and will apply it to analyze and explore novel general spatio-temporal electromagnetic processes in nano-electromagnetic systems. Fundamental questions about the primary role of "forces or potentials" will be addressed.
